Privacy Policy

Short version: we don't collect your data. Here's the long version.

Last updated: 22 May 2026

Our approach

Parallel Spaces is built to keep your accounts apart — and to keep your data yours. We don't run a server of our own — there's no backend that sees you, your spaces or what you do with them. The app doesn't collect, transmit, sell or share personal information; there's no analytics, no telemetry and no advertising; and you don't need an account to use it.

What we collect

Nothing personal. Parallel Spaces has no sign-up, no user profiles and no usage tracking. We do not know who you are, which apps you run, or how you use the app. The only diagnostic data the app sends is anonymous crash reports — see the Crash reports section below.

Your spaces and their data

Every space you create — and all of its logins, cookies, files and settings — is stored locally on your Mac, in a private directory belonging to that space. This data:

  • Stays on your device. It is never uploaded to us.
  • Is isolated. One space cannot read another space's data.
  • Is yours to remove. You can delete a space and wipe its data at any time, or set a space to erase itself automatically when it quits.

Network connections

Parallel Spaces itself makes only minimal network requests:

  • App compatibility catalog. The app downloads a small, public catalog file that describes how various apps can be isolated. This request is anonymous and contains no personal data.
  • Update checks. The app may check the Mac App Store for a newer version using Apple's standard service. This is handled by Apple.
  • Crash reports. See the section below.

Separately, the apps and websites you run inside a space connect to their own servers as normal. Those connections are governed by the privacy policies of those apps and services — not by Parallel Spaces.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, an anonymous technical report is sent through Firebase Crashlytics (by Google) so we can find and fix bugs faster. The report contains diagnostic information — call stack, app version, macOS version, device model — and nothing from inside your spaces: no logins, no cookies, no files, no contents of any app you run in a space, and no identifier that ties the crash to you personally.

Crashlytics is operated by Google under its own privacy policy. Crash reporting follows the macOS-wide setting for sharing analytics with developers; you can turn it off in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

Third parties

Parallel Spaces is distributed through the Apple Mac App Store. The compatibility catalog is hosted on Cloudflare. Anonymous crash reports go to Google (Firebase Crashlytics). These providers may record standard, non-identifying technical request data (such as IP address and timestamp) under their own privacy policies as part of delivering the service. We do not receive personal information from any of them.

No tracking

We do not use cookies for tracking, advertising identifiers, fingerprinting, or any third-party analytics within the app. This website does not run analytics or advertising scripts.

Children

Parallel Spaces is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will be reflected in the app's App Store release notes.
